The angel to whom Pelagius casts his gaze represents the message of God at the time of the boy's passion: "Come, accept the crown which I have promised you from the beginning" (Acta Sanctorum, June vol. 5, 208). Meanwhile the servants of Abd-ar-Rahman III begin to execute his order that Pelagius be dismembered and thrown into the river.
